"We want to take The Examiner to the next level," said Stiller. "The reporters have been saying that they are ready to turn their readers into viewers, and I happen to agree with that."

Stiller noted that the rollout will be gradual, starting with more "news clips on the site.  Soon our readers will be able to choose us as their number one news source."

ARTHUR BOROWSKI, OWNER OF HOMEY PIES, FOUND DEAD IN HOME (cont'd)

The Examiner spoke to several staff members of Honey Pies, that is currently closed due to the owner's recent death. The employees spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the circumstances. They described Borowski as "kind", "a perfect gentleman who always looked out for his workers."

The briefcase, containing an underdetermined amount of money, was found "at the foot of the victim's bed," said Séguin. The detective could not comment further about the briefcase, the tainted money and the victim "because the case is under investigation."

YANCY FLEMING BRINGS HOME THE "BACON CHIPS" (cont'd)

Fleming opened her own design studio three years ago after graduating with honors at Brohan University. The Examiner has used Fleming's talent on numerous occasions. She won a Silver Diamond Award for Best Ad design in the Freelance Category for De Jeune Motors, presented by the Maple Grove County Community Newspaper Association.

Fleming is excited to get started working for the L'il Tastee Corporation, a snacking conglomerate that made $14 billion in profit last year. The company recently set up a large processing plant in the city's industrial park, bringing 110 new jobs to the community.

MGPD: "INDUSTRIAL PARK SECURE" (cont'd)

The reason for the night time surveillance operation was "from a request from the business community," said Martinez. "over a three month period, there was a higher than usual reported number of break ins in the area."

Martinez and Myles had set up three hidden cameras as well as "increased undercover vehicle patrols for several nights in succession."

The sergeant said that no suspicious activity or criminal behavior was seen during their investigation. Martinez, who was recently arrested for allegedly stealing money from the evidence locker, was cleared of all charges.

THE EXAMINER SEEKS ANSWERS FROM MGPD (cont'd)

Sam Reed was last seen two weeks ago, after going for a walk on the Shady Acres residences property after lunch. While he has some mobility issues, Mr. Reed has no cognitive issues. Staff could not locate him in his apartment. Interior and exterior cameras recorded no evidence of Mr. Reed leaving the premises.

O'Keefe was also walking when he disappeared, on the grounds of Brohan University. He was walking with his dog Travis. They had left just after 1 p.m., and 911 calls came in from motorists and passerby about an hour later after noting that Travis, attached to his leash, was walking alone on the campus grounds.

Johnson was alleged to have disappeared outside of Cooper's Barrel Pub, while stepping outside with two friends for a cigarette break. The witnesses both noted that Mr. Johnson was there and then in the next instant "he was gone in flash."

DAMIAN TRAEGER CHARGED WITH ASSAULT (cont'd)

In the video, Traeger is seen kicking and punching a man (whose name has been withheld by police for safety reasons) repeatedly while customers looked on in surprise and fear.

Traeger was released on bail but will face a court date in the near future.

Traeger refused to give a comment to The Examiner.

HOLLYWOOD HITS OUR HOME TOWN! (cont'd)

“This is great news for our town,” Mayor Declan McGrady told The Examiner. “This TV and film company will bring a lot of tax revenue to our little city by the water. They are planning to be here for at least fifteen weeks. That is going to be very lucrative for many of our esteemed citizens and property holders.”

Are some residents concerned about possible traffic congestion, late-night noise issues, and parking problems?

POLICE SEARCH FOR MISSING MAN (cont'd)

"He was there one minute and the next, he was gone in a flash!" said Candace Beaudoin, who allegedly saw Mr. Johnson right before he disappeared.

Barb Jones, another supposed eye witness, confirmed Beaudoin's statement.

The two women called 911. Detective Mary Myles would not comment as the "investigation is currently ongoing."

Mr. Johnson, according to Detective Myles, "is very known to police."

Maple Grove Public Security Captain Karl Wynter credits "...our office's protocols of using 'TAM' (Traffic Attenuation Measures) because they averted the potential for major congestion in Maple Grove while Detective Myles conducted her investigation."

Stillson Trial Starts Next Week (cont'd)

Stillson is on trial for fraud, money laundering and extortion.

Despite these accusations, Stillson remains the Commander of Maple Grove PD, a position he has held for 11 years.  He replaced beloved Commander Oswald McDonald, who was murdered by serial killer Walter Fields, along with 13 other police officers, during Fields’ rampage a decade ago.

Phelps called the entire process a “sham" and “this is nothing more than a witch hunt perpetrated by the real criminals.”  When asked for clarification, Phelps did not answer directly, instead stating that “the truth will finally come out during the trial.  Inspector Stillson is an innocent man and his image has been falsely tarnished by certain political insiders.”

Again, Phelps would not elaborate on who he considered “...working behind the scenes to ruin the life of a man who has been nothing but a consummated professional.”

This will mark the third court date for Stillson’s trial.  The court was originally set to covene August 12, but lead witness, Marnie Delacroix, suddenly changed her statement the day before trial was to start, which caused the Prosecution to call for a recess.  Two other witnesses who were supposed to testify against Stillson, Brady Monroe and Lara Baker,, disappeared within two days of each other.  Neither witness has been seen again.

“My client is innocent and this farce of a trial will finally prove that,” said Phelps.

POLICE ASKING PUBLIC'S HELP IN IDENTIFYING COUPLE (cont'd)

Anyone with information are encouraged to call the 51 Precinct or call 911. Information can be given anonymously.

Hamish Byrne and his brother Ewen, both residents of Crescent Falls, bought the property several months ago and have been renovating the old pub style restaurant into a nightclub that will cater to the city's younger crowd.

Some area residents are concerned that the new club will bring crime as the Byrne brothers have had altercations with the law in the past.

Both brothers have served time at Crawford Penitentiary for a range of crimes including assault, extortion and drug trafficking.

ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT

SHHH! YOU’LL SEE ME IN THE MOVIES!!! (cont'd)

You know me, Faithful Reader, I’m the guy who has been covering all things entertainment in Maple Grove for the last two decades.  I’m the guy on TV and radio telling you all what you should spend your free time watching and listening to, getting the best scoops and celebrity interviews as possible and keeping you up on the most current trends and fads.

But with the production company in town to shoot a TV series and movie, I am very close to becoming part of the cast as, you guessed it, a handsome and charismatic newsman!  I went through a great audition process recently with the company’s casting agent, Sherry Smoker, and I got to say, we really clicked!  Now my casting experience will be a lot different from any of you aspiring background actors as my character has dialogue!  You guys will just have to submit a photo whereas I has “sides” to learn.  That’s industry speak for the lines you have to learn for the role.

Keeping my fingers crossed her but once I get cast I might have to scale back a bit on my regular duties as being an actor requires a lot of time and preparation. My agent, the fabulous Pinky Singleton, told me that this could be my first step into the world of being a professional actor!  I mean, it makes sense because I have been told for years by some of the A list actors I have interviewed over the years that I am a natural.

And while the radio show might have to go into re-runs for a while, I have been granted EXCLUSIVE access to the set (the film company is planning to shoot at Brohan university, the police station, Cooper’s Barrel and Furst Cut Health & Spa) as well as the production team and cast (Hey, can I interview myself? lol!)

Keep checking in on my social media for updates as soon as I get them!

LOCAL TALENT AGENT HITS HIGH GEAR (cont'd)

While she has been in show business for the last 15 years, this season promises to be local wunderkind’s Pinky

Singleton’s busiest yet. With Kitchen Session Pictures coming to our fair city to shoot not only an anthology TV series and a full-length feature.

Finding local talent for the many small roles available is causing The Pinky Singleton Talent Agency to seek new clients.

“if you’ve ver wanted to be in show business, now is your chance.  Bring us a recent photo of yourself and we will see what we can find for you,” Singleton said.

The production company’s TV series “follows multiple characters trying to make their way in a city where the odds always seem to be stacked against them.

“Season One’s crime-centric format will introduce the colourful misfits of Maple Grove, and the city’s main locations, and take them on a variety of adventures, incorporating diverse styles as comedy, romance, film noir and science fiction; integrating different moods and sub-genres along the way,” noted the company’s website.

“The tone and style will vary from episode to episode depending on the story and situation. The viewer will be dropped into a world that is both familiar and surprising, delivering to them a complete story per episode.”

Shooting on the TV series is set to begin within the next few weeks with the film expected to begin shooting by next Fall.

Singleton is seeking CVs and photos from any aspiring thespians out there.  Break a leg!

Furst Eyes Newly Found Cave as Potential Tourist Attraction (cont'd)

"One of my workers found it by accident a few weeks ago," Furst told The Examiner.  "

The entrepreneur is hoping to open his new Spiritual Alignment Experience Center as early as next summer.

But Furst will have to get the land re-zoned by the city council.  This could be a win-win for the city so I don't expect any problems. I know those guys." Furst said.

Despite repeated calls to City Hall and Mayor Declan McGrady's office, no calls were returned by press time.

I THINK NOT :  Why Should Furst Control The Cave? (cont'd)

And who is the star and director of this other disaster movie?  Bartholomew Furst! Maple Grove's own version of B.T. Barnum, has found a crystal cave under his property.  And, dear reader, he has BIG plans for the find.  He wants to get the city to bend to his will, re-zoning Furst's forested land to become a commercial space so that can get up a new tourist trap -excuse me- "attraction" for all of us.

Really?  Furst became a local legend a few years ago when it was discovered that the pond on his property had "healing properties".  What started as a local secret with a small snack bar and changing rooms has grown into a veritable village, complete with restaurants, Bed & Breakfast and tons of parking.  How many trees did you cut down to make your shopping mall sized parking lot, Bart?  I can tell you, too many.

I don't like to begrudge anyone trying to set up more industry in our fair city. God only knows we need a boost, with the recent gutting of the industrial park, with Titan Corp moving to Mexico, and rumors about Go Tires being on the brink of bankruptcy.  But is the city's only solution to go "all in", investing our hard-earned tax dollars for a crystal cave?  I think not!
